I had a fighter last night show up with a new blade that was a Zen Armory blade(note the link).  It isn't listed on the accepted blade list here.  As it states in the ABC's he isn't supposed to fight with that blade at anything official.  The blade felt very nice and had good flex, but it isn't on the list.  I have come to find out that that seems to be what triplette is selling, although it isn't marked with the triplette logo like the ABC's suggest.  What needs to happen now?

Zen Armory used to be Triplette (SCA and sport fencing split..) The blades that they sell are still listed on their web page as TCA blades and are listed in the RABC's.

Damn this quote thingee not workin' right...

That's good to know Kit.  Perhaps a note should be made in the RABC's the next time they're revised.  Unless the blades are still marked as Triplette I'd down check them as not being approved if they were marked Zen Armory.

And BTW Talentus, if a blade is not approved in the RABC's it CANNOT be used in any capacity in the SCA period.

That is what i thought as well. Even though the blades used to be Triplette and all signs point to that being the case they are marked with the Zen Armory Mark, not Triplette. So what must we do to add them to the list?

BTW call me Talon

Did they actually change the maker's mark?

I am currently in a discussion with Walter Triplette now (techniocally on an unrelated matter), and this will be cleared up in the new ruleset.

However, since getting the list of blades approved for use at the Society level updated is going to take a minor miracle, or a lot of beatings, not sure what good that is going to do.

Interesting, I thought that the "TCA" makers mark was the original that was put on bvefore the split from Triplette to Zen Warrior. Are we saying that this isnt the case?

If the makers mark is different and as Dormouse suggests he would "Down Check them" Im presuming that means fail them as not approved. What is the official standing that we need to take on these blades until the new rule set is out? We do have 40 year coming shortly so there will be a ton of people there with Tripletts or Zen Warrior blades and I for one would like to have an official statement to guide me, I dont really want to have to argue about it with someone that doesnt read this forum.

It would also be nice to let people know that if they have one marked with Zen Warrior that can can or can't fight with it.

Crap - I hit back before actually submitting.

Short version this time:

Until hear otherwise, please treat any TCA blades with the ZWA makers mark the same as TCA blades with the TCA makers mark.
