Have these been approved for use in An Tir yet?  I thought I remembered seeing mention of this on the old, old forums.

Thanks!

In the Rapier Marshal Handbook located http://www.nwrapier.com/Portals/10/rmh071404.pdf on page 21 is the list of approved steel.

Darkwood Armory blades are the 4th item from the top of the list.

Thanks,
I had already checked the Rapier ABC's and the Rapier Marshal Hand book. I thought I had heard that the Darkwood Practice Rapier, and the Darkwood Bated Rapier, had been submitted for review last year. This was way back before the server changeover. However with the contents of that board now gone, I cannot go and search it. I was wondering if anybody else had either old or new news on this.

Just remember that not only is the list you referred to old and way out of date.  In fact, it lists del tin daggers approved that are ACTUALLY Darkwood daggers!

Yes, the Darkwood Rapier blades are approved for use within An Tir - and hopefully soon, so will the Darkwood Practice Sideswords.

Just cause I like teasing Luciano....

Justin - just cause you like teasing us. Better step it up. Looks like West Kingdom might be ahead of AnTir for getting Sidesword rules up and running. First meeting was supposed to be at March Crown

Yeah - how do you get sidesword rules in place, without a list of approved blades - which the SRM has not published....

Greetings,

In the West we are still getting our rules in order for Cut & Thrust.  But, until we here the blade types that SocRM says is, or is not, approved for C & T, we plan on using the ones that were approved for sidesword.  Then, when the final rules come down, we will make the necessary adjustments.

In service to the West,

That is what we are intending to do in An Tir as well...

What I find interesting now though, is learning that Hanwei has "discontinued" the currently recognized practice rapier blades, and have replaced them with a new version. This means that until the SCA list is updated, there may not be a good source for new Hanwei rapiers...

Really - where did you hear this? I just got replacement Hanwei blades this winter. CAS Iberia still lists the practical rapiers on their website.

Heard it from the guy with Age of Chivalry that I was talking with. He had the new ones there as well - which are pretty nice. Much better than the old ones.

Yes, well....CAS Iberia has also not provided a new catalog to anyone yet....so there you go.

They may still have them in stock. I just said that Paul Chen is not making them anymore - apparently.
