So someone told me that there is a change to the size of an eric in the new rule set, something about 30 sq ft. Yet I can't seem to find it. Another point is the max size of quillions, and grip, these items seem to have disappeared as well. Due to the fact that they are modifiable, are there no limits now? or am I just missing this item as well? anyone? anyone? my thanks Lasairiona

K I spent a good deal of the day in doctors offices with the rules. re-reading at least twice. These are the areas I've found missing as previously noted and more.. -The size of an eric and the safety zone -the allowable size of a blade's edge, quillions, and grip. -the part about no more than one gentle bend in a 12" length -the bend force test (for steel) is missing -there is no notation about the wait time before authorizing for case. I know what these all are from the previous rules but should they not be included in the new rules as well.? Lasairiona

The size of an eric and the safety zone

Not included in the rapier rules. Standard An Tir Marshallate issue. Probably makes sense to include it though. The change to 30x30 for eric size was something that was announced by the Earl Marshal a couple of months ago.

the allowable size of a blade's edge, quillions, and grip

Size of the blade edge doesnt exist. Doesnt exist in Society Rules either. The rules regarding quillions/grip sizes were removed as no longer needed.

the part about no more than one gentle bend in a 12" length

Removed from Society, so removed from An Tir rules.

there is no notation about the wait time before authorizing for case

There is no longer a wait time for authorizing in case. It has been maintained as a separate authorization as it does require more skill/coordination than single sword alone (or even sword and dagger). If someone can be authorized for case at the same time as they authorize for rapier, then they are safe, and there is no reason to make them wait an additional year. If they are not safe, than they do not get authorized.

As to the bend force test for steel - let me look at that and get back to you.
