Greetings,
West An Tir War will held at the same site as last year (at Gold Beach, OR), and I will be the RMiC.
I would like to hear some input on what people would like to see for scenarios, equipment you'd like to use (RBGs, etc.) and other comments.
Since This event has been lightly attended by the rapier community (I think last year had six or seven from An Tir, and none from the West; some years before this was reversed) I would like to do what I can to help make this event something that rapier combatants in both kingdoms look forward to. So, please either post your opinions and ideas here or e-mail me privately at arffuidsson @ yahoo. com.
Thank you for your time!

I think I will be going to this. As long as fighting doesn't start at 9am I'm happy with anything.

Unto All Rapier Combatants, Greetings! The Rapier activities will include tourneys, several melees, and for those interested in teaching and learning, we will make time. If you wish to teach, please contact me so we can schedule it. Death From Behind will be allowed in all the melee scenarios. Each day’s tourney will start at 11 AM, a break for lunch, the first melee around 1 PM, and the second melee around 3 PM. Thursday 03 July Armor Inspections: After Noon. Pick ups: Near the melee field. Make sure there is a marshal present! 1. In the afternoon there will be an Early Bird Rapier Tourney. This tourney will be double elimination. Friday 04 July Armor Inspections: 10 AM Pick ups: Near the melee field. Make sure there is a marshal present! 1. Two Man Tourney. This is a Round Robin tourney. Pair up with someone and kill all who enter in the lists. The team with the best win-loss ratio wins! 2. Escort the Prisoner. Rubber Band Guns are allowed. One person from the opposing team will be designated “Prisoner”, this person shall not be armed and can not be killed. For the Guard sired to win, the prisoner must be safely escorted from “Point A” to “Point B”. At least one person needs to guard the prisoner. Those guarding need to stay within arms reach or the prisoner might wander off (NO RUNNING!). For the “Rescuer” side to win they need to free the prisoner and get them to their starting point. 3. Seige! This is a timed resurrection battle. No Rubber Band Guns in this scenario. Hay bales will be set up into a fort. This will be fought best two out of three. Saturday 05 July Armor Inspections: 10 AM Pick ups: Near the melee field. Make sure there is a marshal present! 1. Old and New Tourney. In this Double Elimination tourney fighters who have fought less than two years will be partnered up with those who have fought over two. 2. Last Man Standing. As the name applies, the last one standing, man or woman, wins! Can you form teams? Most certainly! Just remember, only one can win! 3. Cattle Raid. This is a resurrection battle. Rubber Band Guns are allowed, however, you are not allowed to reuse ammo that has been shot. One team must get at least five cattle (hay bales) into their corral. This will be fought twice, the team with the best time wins! 4. Capture the Flag. This is a timed resurrection battle. No Rubber Band Guns in this scenario. Three to five flags will be posted throughout the field. Sunday 06 July Armor Inspections: 10 AM Pick ups: Near the melee field. Make sure there is a marshal present! 1. Cut and Thrust Double Elimination Tourney. If we do not have enough people authorized in this weapons form we will modify the tourney format. Since we will be sharing the fields with our fellow Armored Combatants, we will need to help move the hay bales around. | There will also be a Buy A Life tournament on saturday afternoon benefitting the Susan G. Komen foundation. THe format is similar to the tournament that was run at Junefaire this year. Each life costs $1 and you can buy as many lives as you would like. Each duel lives are wagered (1 for 1, 5 for 1, whatever you want). Participants can turn in 10 lives to have their name (mundane or SCA) listed on the donation roll, and the winner gets the remaining blanace donated in their name. Come out and support a great cause! |
