Okay so I know it's a little out of the way for most of you, but if you ask me the food alone si worth making the trip, and it never hurts to advertise a little more, so here:

Join the Barony of Myrgan Wood as we hold our annual Spring Champions event to decide our rapier and arts and science champions!

A rapier tournament will be held in the afternoon to decide who our next champion is. Arts and science competitions will be taking place throughout the day.

A heavy tournament will also being taking place. Archery activities are going on throughout the day as well as we have a great indoor range available. Royal rounds for children and adults will be taking place. Weather permitting there may also be an outdoor 3D shoot available. There would be an additional fee of $2/person for anyone choosing to take advantage of the outdoor range.

Schedules for these activities will be posted closer to the event.

We also have an amazing feast planned this year cooked by Dale Jessome (some of you might remember Dale from Feast of the Roses). Dale is a professional chef at STM College here in Myrganwood and his feasts are amazing. The menu is as follows:

1st Remove

~Fresh butter rolls~

~Fireweed honey butter~

~Red currant butter~

~Lavender butter~

2nd Remove

~Salad of bitter greens with caramelized pears, sweet and spicy pecans, crumbled Stilton, Port vinaigrette and balsamic glaze~

3rd Remove

~Cream of triple “new potato” and applewood smoked bacon garnished with crispy vidalia onions, and fennel oil~

Greetings all,

For those who are wondering how things rapier will be organized this weekend at Spring Champions, I have Their Excellencies leave to inform you of the following:

The tournament to decide who will succeed me as Rapier Champion will be a standard double elimination tournament. The tournament will be open to all who would vie to become Their Excellencies' Champion of Rapier. Entrants need not be residents of Myrgan Wood, they need only to be able and willing to perform the duties of Champion.

There will be a second rapier tourney that will begin after the second round of the Champion tourney. This tourney will be a hold the field type, exact format depending on the number of entrants. There is a prize for this tourney, being a very spiffy main gauche.

I hope to see many rapier fighters this weekend, contending for the Championship, the prize, or both.

You'll have to get the exact duties from Their Excellencies Myrgan Wood, but generally its the usual champion duties. To represent and defend the honour of the barony, to attend Their Excellencies at court, to take a leadership role on the battlefield.

Are you thinking of coming out for it?

Unfortunately it would be a massive trip from where I am Aquaterra... and since I had a spinal surgery on valentines day it would be for no fighting

I was more asking just to get the info out there, and was thinking along the lines of how many events required? Fealty or Friendship? that sort of information

I expect it will be fun however.

The number of events required will depend on Their Excellencies schedule. Remembering that Avacal branches are each separated by several hour drives, the potential to rack up the miles is there. I believe that an oath of fealty will be required.

Recognizing that it is a long way from there to here, it would be nice to see a few more people up in our neighbourhood. Albert's been here a couple times, and we had a few WSs come up when we hosted September Crown back in '98, but other than that the only person from outside of Avacal coming up here I can remember was Danika.
