Luciono,

I have a short test that covers the most important points.  I gave it to one of my potentials and it seemed to work well for a first draft.  It needs a little work but it's a good starting point.  I will be at Honey war this weekend or you can contact me at Excalibur1664A@netzero.net or at (360) 200-2363.

I'm sorry it took so long to get this posted, I've been having computer issues for awhile.   This test can be given easily either orally or written.  Everything in it is in the current Rapier Combat handbook, except for question 10 in the "on the field" section.  It was taught to me when I first started in the SCA. The answer is "Do Not fight angry".  It's something we all know but I felt it was important enough to include in an authorization test.   Let me know if there are any questions.

Will, this is not bad. Simple and to the point.

Just a couple of comments:
What is required armor for the groin?

Interested to know what answer you are looking for here. The Rapier Rules do not make a distinction between "groin" and "torso" - so the answer should be the same for either a man or a woman. If you are looking for the Rigid Protection required (sch as a cup) then I think it might be better to rephrase this slightly to minimize confusion. The entire groin area of a male fighter does not require to be covered in Rigid Material - just the area that is covered by a cup...

What diameter is required for a blade tip?

Just for my own clarity - do you mean the tip of a bare blade? Or do you mean the diameter of the blunt? If the latter, I reccomend you use the term "blunt" instead of "tip" as this can be confusing.

What types of Blades are allowed?

Not sure what answer you are looking for here - but if it is that someone has memorized the full list of allowed blades, my preference is that this be changed. No one should have to memorize something like that - instead they should be able to answer something along the lines of - "...any blade that is listed on the approved blade list for An Tir..."

Cheers!

Ramon

Thanks,  I took another look after reading your suggestions, and you have pointed out some things I missed.  The groin question should have been for the men's genital protection and I hadn't changed it.  I was referring to the Blunt diameter and will be changing that as it does seem a bit confusing. The answer you suggested for the Blade type question is pretty much what I was looking for just to see if they looked.  I sometimes ask if they can give a couple of examples if they've been doing well.  Thanks again, your input will help me improve this test even more.
